Our pets now only consist of 2 cats. Our female cat (Irie), and male cat (Moose).
This page gives all of our pets a little spotlight of their own.

So On With The Pet Pics

Let's start with Zeke....He was our 11 year old, 80 pound Black Lab, Shepherd mix. Liz rescued him from neighbors that abandoned him when he was about a year old. He was a devoted friend and family member. Loved car rides with Tom and would lay for hours in the evening with Liz.

Next are our cats....Toes, Irie, Sid & Moose....

(We had to put Toes down in 2001, and Sid down in 2003, and Zeke down March 14th 2005. We sure miss them)

Toes was named for her 6 toes on each of her front paws.
Irie was named after a Reggae term meaning "Happy".
Sid was named after Sid Vicious of the Punk Rock Group "The Sex Pistols".

Liz rescued Toes in Arkansas City, Kansas while visiting there about 9 years ago.
She was a stray kitten surviving on bugs and mice.

Irie was one of three kittens born in a friends Grandmothers Apartment, which already
had five adult cats and she needed a home fast!

Sid was Liz's first and most expensive cat. After the 1989 Plaza Art Fair, Liz went to
Animal Haven and adopted the quietest cat - a short hair domestic male, ~ 10 weeks old.
After getting him home he wouldn't eat and wound up staying 2 days at the vet, then Liz ended
up getting allergy shots for 5 years hence the "most expensive pet". He is now healthy, 20 LBS.
and has long black hair! What's up with that?

Moose showed up one day in our back yard while Tom was mowing the lawn. We thought he was
just someone in the neighborhood's pet. He was very friendly. We soon found that he was either
abandoned or lost. He was sleeping on the vacant house next door's back porch and would show
up here to eat and get some attention. We took him to the vet and he proved to be healthy and
we took him in. He is a very loving and affectionate fellow.

In Loving Memory Of Our Little Sweetheart, Toes and Our Stoic 20 LB Sid, and our Best Friend Zeke

We had to put Toes to sleep last December (2001).
She became ill and just couldn't recover.
She was the best and we miss her very much.

We had to put Sid to sleep last October (2003).
He had been suffering with kidney failure for a couple of years.
He was a very handsome big boy....

We had to put Zeke to sleep March (2005).
He became ill on a Sunday night (the 13th) and was found
to have a tumor that was cancerous. He was a great pal, and
a great watch dog. He too is missed very much.

We believe in adopting pets (new members of your family) from local animal shelters.
Spaying and neutering your pets will prevent any chance of puppies / kittens either ending
abandoned or in shelters where they risk the chance of being "put down". Puppies and kittens
are cute however, a handful. Don't overlook the adult animals - most are litter / house trained
and ready to be a loyal companion. Think of them first.
